Hi! I am Siris, a writer, photographer, hiker and caver from the Netherlands. Longtime lover of the Scottish Highlands, in 2022, while on a break from my medicine studies, I took my chances to do an exchange semester at the University of Glasgow.

What was meant to be four months of studying abroad, became eight months of travelling around the most beautiful corners of Scotland, by train, ferry, van & on foot, at the end of which this wild land felt in many ways like home. I saw things and learned skills that I would never have imagined, from witnessing the northern lights on a lonesome hilltop, to delving into the deepest depths underground. What moved me most during my travels were those experiences that tickled my senses and challenged the way I see the world around me. This blog is a little glimpse into what I’ve found along the way. For now I am hiding in the Low Lands, but the wuthering heights of Scotland are forever calling me, and I hope you, after reading my stories, too.
